The other day, I heard an interesting story on NPR. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6687070
Apparently, the Bush administration is considering declaring the polar bear an endangered species. The measures that would have to be taken to protect them aren't directed at the Native peoples, who hunt them as traditional food sources, nor are polar bears really the subject of big game hunts by commercial hunters. No, instead, the steps that would have to be taken to protect the polar bear includes things like limitations on energy plants and emission control and such.
And I keep wondering..... where's the catch? I simply cannot conceive that the Bush White House is doing something altruistic and environmentally friendly without there being a payoff involved somewhere. But what is it?!? It goes against everything the Bush administration has stood for and done the past 7 years. Apparently they're just doing it to drive me crazy.
